AFGHANISTAN

Afghanistan proves to be the second-largest refugee crisis behind Syria, with 2.7 million refugees fleeing violence from terrorist groups like the Taliban and communist-led Taraki.

The crisis began when Afghanistan was invaded by the Soviet Union in 1979 and with it came an uprising. The nation was met with many terrorist attacks and violence, putting citizens in danger.

As they flee the terrorism in their own country, Afghanis seek refuge in countries like Iran and Pakistan. However, they still face discrimination based on their race and nationality.
